Notice of works: temporary road closure (nightworks) Wellington Road, between Albert Road and Victoria Road

Works are progressing on the Central Sewer Trunk Main Project, a key infrastructure upgrade that will support the new hospital and Mount Barker’s future growth.
As part of this project, night works will commence on Wellington Road, between Albert Road and Victoria Road, from Sunday 8 February 2026. These works are expected to take approximately six weeks to complete.
Night-time construction has been scheduled to minimise disruption to daytime traffic and to ensure the safety of both workers and road users.
Temporary Full Road Closure (Night Works)
A temporary full road closure will be in place during night works. Due to the complexity of this stage, exact completion timeframes are difficult to confirm, and the night-time closure will remain in place until further notice.
Details:
- Dates: From Sunday 8 February 2026 until further notice
- Times: 7:00pm – 6:00am
- Location: Wellington Road between Albert Road and Victoria Road
- Detours: Via Albert Road, Victoria Road and Alexandrina Road
Wellington Road will reopen during the day, with reduced speed limits in place.
Local access for residents and emergency services will be maintained at all times under traffic management arrangements. Businesses in the area will remain open as usual, with access available via Victoria Road.
Half-Lane Closures (Night Works)
Night works will continue with half-lane closures for the remainder of the project.

- Days: Sunday to Thursday nights
- Times: 7:00pm – 6:00am
- Traffic: Half-lane closures with traffic management in place
As with the full road closure, the road will reopen during the day with reduced speed limits.
Motorists are asked to take care when travelling through the area and to follow all signage and traffic management directions to help ensure everyone’s safety.
